WELCOME
TO THE SOUTH AFRICAN FLEMMER FAMILY SITE
The
Flemmer family arrived in South Africa on 1 February 1853. They came from Denmark
and settled in Cradock. Steve
Herbert and Fay Lea
worked for more than ten years researching the family history. The culmination
of their efforts was the publication of The
Story of the South African Flemmers. Along
the way papers on ancestors of the South African branch and on other branches
of the family were published, in conjunction with the family gatherings. This
site, with the links provided, gives a good deal of information about the family.
More will be added as it comes to hand.
There
are some costs to running the site and anyone who wants to contribute is welcome
to do so - just mail Steve
Herbert on
how to do it. Those family members who have responded to appeals for support are
listed as Supporters. Their help is gratefully acknowledged.
We hope
you find the site interesting and informative. Steve
Herbert and Fay Lea always welcome
any information or queries, so don't hesitate to mail them on genealogical issues.
Terry
Herbert has set up the Website, although he can't be called a Webmaster by
any stretch of the imagination, so if you have a problem or suggestion about the
site, mail him.
